Introduction to List Building

Learning how to list build is one of the most important skills you can learn as a home-based business owner.

Having a solid, opt-in email list can be one of the most lucrative assets you’ll ever possess.

Build a strong relationship with your subscribers and they will come to trust you and in time, join you in business.

In order for that to happen, you need to know how to list build, so here’s a few tips to get you started:

List Building Tip #1.

Do not give away any information about your company or opportunity until your prospect has given you their contact information first.

Online, a lead capture page does this for you. So be sure to advertise and market your lead capture page url and not your company home page! – You can send your prospects to your company homepage after they opt-in.

Offline, if you’re using an 800#, your service provider should automatically be gathering their contact information for you.

And if you’re talking to them, just ask them for their contact so you can send them more information. Yes, it really is that easy!

List Building Tip #2.

To encourage people to opt-in, offer them a valuable gift for free. E-books and reports (digital) are great gifts to give away because of the inherent value they provide your prospect. Plus, it won’t cost you a penny to deliver the ebook or report.

List Building Tip #3.

To further increase your opt-in rate, show and tell your prospect what’s in it for them and why they should opt-in.

Once you’ve started list building, be sure to set a schedule of communication to stay in regular contact with your prospects.

If you’re just getting started, then an email a month is a good place to start. Think of it as a monthly newsletter. As your list grows, you’ll want to increase your monthly communication to twice a month, once a week, twice a week, etc…

List building does not have to be difficult. Just stay focused on your advertising and marketing each week.

Now don’t be shy, please leave a comment or a question.

Yours for more profits.

    Hey Josh,

where do you think is the best source for the optin giveways. Should it be an attractive PLR or something original written by me or ghostwriter?. How make it sound attractive in order to make people leave their names and emails?

    Hi Maciej,

You can choose any one of the options you mentioned. There is no right or wrong way. Just different paths you can take. I’ve made a very short pro/con list of each option to give you an idea of the benefits of each.

OPTION #1. PLR aka Private Label Rights
    PROS:
    – Near instant product creation
    – Typically a small investment
    – No product creation skills or knowledge required
    – Great done-for-you solution

    CONS:
    – Hard to find good quality
    – Requires some time investment for editing
    – Can be hard to find exactly what you want
    – Not unique, unless you invest the time personalizing it

    OPTION #2. Write it Yourself
    PROS:
    – Low investment
    – Great if you’re on a very tight budget
    – Your report is unique, personalized and branded to you
    – Get better raport with your readers

    CONS:
    – Time and labor intensive
    – Hard if you’re not a natural writer

    OPTION #3. Hire a Ghostwriter
    PROS:
    – Low time investment
    – No work involved
    – Your report is unique, personalized and branded to you
    – Great done-for-you solution

    CONS:
    – No guarantee of quality, but typically much better than with PLR
    – Most expensive option
    – Typically faster solution over writing it yourself

In the end Maciej, you’ll have to look at your situation, knowledge and skills and make the decision as to which option is the best solution for you.

Also, keep in mind that this is NOT a comprehensive pro/con list by any stretch of the imagination. I just whipped this short list up to help you see what some of the benefits each option offers.

    Hope this helps.
